Aquarium At Last
Well, it took some time but I finally have my aqarium set up! After years of considering it, months of planning, and 9 weeks to assemble/stock, it's pretty much set.
I lost a few danios along the way, though I'm not sure why. The ammonia, nitrite, etc. seemed fine but 4 of the little guys died within days of being introduced and 1 more had to be removed last week. 2 of my original 3 seem to be fine (plus 3 new ones) and the whole tank has cycled now with zero levels of the chemical N's (NO2, NO3, NH3).
Here's a picture of Nikki pondering how to catch herself a snack.
The current head count in this 37 gallon tank is as follows:
- 5 Long Finned Blue Danios
- 6 Brilliant Rasboras
- 3 Sunset Platies
- 7 Panda Cory Cats
It looks a bit sparse when they school near the back but they swim about fairly often and at feeding time the tank is full of activity.
The panda corries were my inspiration to get a new aquarium and these tiny guys are about as "adorable" as a pet fish can be. They climb the stairs to the castle searching for food and and add real life to the bottom of the tank.
