Lack of recent postings
Wow - it's been a while since my last post here at Thoreau-ly Confused but that has more to do with a lack of time lately than a lack of ideas.
I've been working on the re-design of our web site for the School of Retail Management (at Ryerson University) and focusing a lot on writing new content to keep the site fresh. The result has been the creation of a new Retail Blog where the school's director and I can post our thoughts about issues or innovations related to the retail industry. The Blog is in its infancy but I've posted 3 interesting items to get it rolling.
In addition, I've tried to assemble a simple team work guide for our students. It's still a work in progress but the foundation is now online. The site includes short writings on how to join/select other team members, avoid destructive conflicts, plan meetings, and links to extra resources that cover issues from assessing one's personality to defining the "Apollo Syndrome" - where teams of the best performing individuals sometimes fail as a group.
The remainder of my free time for the last few weeks has involved setting up a new 37-gallon aquarium and I'm planning an article about that for a local retail web site.
So stay tuned because I'll be back shortly with more opinions and ideas. If you are itching for something to read until then, I'm about 75% through Steven Levitt's book Freakonomics and it's actually a fun read. But don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourselves!
