The year that we call 1950
Most boomers recall was "just nifty"
They claim crime was low
since the news did not show
real life in the big inner city

Yet McCarthy was hunting down "witches"
Black men were still hung by their britches
Korea was fighting
with Truman igniting
H-bomb plans to blow more than ditches

Now each generation may see
their past as ideal as can be.
But as blessing or curse
it's no better or worse
